Dog Pictures

There isn't a dog in my family at present, since my Dad had to put his Yellow Lab down a few months ago. So, I'm living vicariously through the dog pictures I see on forums. Puppy pictures are especially fun.

So, if you have a dog, do me a favor and post your favorite picture here. I promise I'll "ooh" and "ahh" admiringly at every one.

I don't have any current pictures, but this is my favorite picture of Gus.

GSG,

I'd sure like to post some of mine. I have hundreds of them, but we was having problems with the old computer and my son had one that was only a year old so he gave us his, and before I could retrieve any of my picture folders my wife had given the old computer away, so the only one I have is the picture under my name.

Guys.
really good looking dogs.

Nulle,
Is that the shorthair that you was trying to have someone take from the pound? Really nice looking dog. If so sure wished that I would have grabbed him while I had the chance.

Hey Sonny

Sure glad you went back to your old sig line. I tried to quote it in the Goodbye Jake thread. Ay the time I couldn't remember who used it.

You aren't thinking of the Drahthaar that Nulle was giving away are you? If you are, I got him. He is my best buddy. He still has one bad habit that we are working on though. He's a vacuum cleaner in the field. I should have named him Kirby. But his name is Fritz. I wouldn't take 100 times what I paid for him. He is just a blessing.

Best wishes, Bill

Nulle 07-28-2007 10:05 PM

Fritz was one heck of a dog and had the biggest mouth I have ever seen lol Glad you like him Billy
The Shorthair was indeed a Shelter dog and has a nose that is out of this world. Found it a good hunting home but saved the pic.
From time to time we do end up with a few good hunting dogs once in awhile. I suppose we see 500 dogs a year in our little Shelter and with an 85% adoption rate that aint too bad I guess.

Hey Curt

Did I tell you about Fritz and the tag football game? I was playing with the kids across the street and Fritz snagged a pass in mid air. That dog never ceases to amaze me.

Bill

gspsonny03 07-29-2007 07:25 AM

Billy
Thanks for remembering my tag line.
And no I wasn't thinking about your dog. Curt had told me that he had two dogs, one a shorthair and one a wirehair and at the time my son was wanting another one and then he wasn't and then he was and by the time he made up his mind, you had one and Curt was going to keep the other one, so I missed out on both. Luck of the draw I guess. Good to know both turned out so good.:D

Gunslingergirl 07-30-2007 07:53 AM

Thanks for posting the pictures everyone. Those are some beautiful dogs.

DogYeller,

Is that a yellow lab? It looks like it. I'm just wondering because my Dad's dog was a yellow lab named Gus. His full name was Augustus McRae after the character in Lonesome Dove.

Jonesy,

Nick and Eli are just precious. We had a black lab when I was a kid and we used to ride her like that too.

GSG

DogYeller 07-30-2007 11:52 AM

Yep, Gus is a Yellow Lab and he is also named for Agustus McRae.

Gunslingergirl 07-30-2007 11:53 AM

And I thought I was being so original!

That's too funny.

I'll have to tell Dad there's another Gus out there somewhere.

I had to post some of my Nitro. This is one after we got back from dove hunting when he was just over 3 months old. He retrieved his first dove that day, which was the first dove I shot with a 20 gauge.

This picture is from a duck hunt his first year. He was about 6 months old at this time and had already had a couple mallard and wood duck retrieves. We didn't see a single thing this day, which was somewhat depressing.

And this one is of my wife being cruel.

Gunslingergirl 07-31-2007 07:47 AM

Nitro is so cute! Of course I'm partial to Labs.

I have to say the one of him in the Halloween costume is priceless. Too funny.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

I think you be have a DNA check on him, his gene pool looks a little cloudy.

He tryly is unique, did u nique up on him to get those horns in place? :D :D :D

Best wishes, Bill

Gunslingergirl 07-31-2007 04:40 PM

I smell Photoshop.

Or maybe Crazy Glue. :D

Without the horns, I bet he'd be a really pretty dog.

DogYeller 07-31-2007 05:06 PM

Ok, I guess that photo was embellished. Old Sam passed on two years ago, I still miss him.

Gunslingergirl 08-01-2007 04:44 PM

He was very cute. Looks like he was cuddly too.

I think you always miss the pets you've had once they're gone. You often don't realize how big a part of your life they were.

BILLY D. 08-01-2007 05:20 PM

Airedales, Drahthaars and such always look so serious. You almost expect them to be wearing a deerslayer hat and have a Meerschaum pipe hanging out of their mouth.

I can do this...

Here's one of Jack celebrating his 8th B-Day back in May '07. White cake with bavarian creme filling and whipped cream frosting....his favorite....mine too!

Just Jack wondering what the heck I'm doing now.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...c/IMG_0392.jpg

Jack in his hidee-hole at our duck blind. An Aleutian Goose that he just retrieved above him...

Another Pic at our blind on a slow bluebird day in the rice.

Here's a Video of Jack fetchin' up a sodee-pop for his Papa! Just click on the Pic and it'll start the video.

Gunslingergirl 08-03-2007 07:47 AM

You give your dog birthday cake! We used to do that too and everyone thought we were crazy. The dogs always loved it though.

Jake is beautiful. He's also obviously quite smart. I love the soda fetching video.

TreeDoc 08-03-2007 12:09 PM

Well....he got to lick the corner at least! He was pretty nervous in that shot cuz he knows he's not allowed to sniff at food on a plate or on the counter but we bend the rules for special occasions.

Gunslingergirl 08-04-2007 09:46 AM

That's a pretty dog.

Even though I know dogs with long fur usually shed more, they always look so cuddly.

Gaven1030 08-05-2007 09:58 AM

yup, he likes to get pet a lot, we usually have a nice cut on him but it was winter so we let him grow it out.

Gunslingergirl 08-08-2007 05:42 PM

She's beautiful. I love how alert she looks in that picture.

I'm bad at recognizing dog breeds. What sort of dog is she?

GSG

Gunslingergirl 08-09-2007 08:14 AM

I thought she was a spaniel, but I wasn't sure.

Love that middle picture. Nothing looks sadder than a wet dog.

Nulle 08-15-2007 09:47 AM

Billy:
I think I still have some pictures of your dog at the office and will check today. I will post them for you if I find them in my mess lol
Fantastic thred and it has created interest that is needed to make this site so Great. Cool dogs folks !

Spanky doing some grouse hunting.

Gunslingergirl 08-15-2007 11:45 AM

Perhaps this isn't Spanky's best angle. He does look intent on something though.

Guess he found a grouse.

I'd appreciate the pictures of Fritz. Looks like Spanky sure likes you. It's neat when they get up next to you like that and just push against you with all they got.

Best wishes, Bill

When you have a Pointer or Setter thats about all you see of them in the field, Butts and elbows. It's constant motion. Dogs have a heart the size of Texas.

I have had several of the pointing breeds and the Setter is one that needs to be with you all the time. They are a real person friendly breed of dog. From what I have learned they are not a good kennel dog and want to be laying at your feet in front of that fire on a cold winters night.

Gunslingergirl 08-16-2007 07:50 AM

Yes, the new pictures are much better.

He sure does like the birds.
