Where do you Like to Fish the Most ?

I like to fish River's & Lake's for Catfish and Bass, & for panfish I have a few Ponds to go too. Where do you do all your fishing at ?

What fish are you after the most ? I am a Hardcore Catfisherman, I go to great lengths to catch the biggest ones I can.

From a Boat or from Shore ? I can do either, But im on the Bank most of the time. My Boat wont even see the water this year.:( Maybe never again.

best places

Offshore for pelagics and down in the bayous of Louisianna for bass though thats not the majority of my fishing(wish it was). I guess the best part of both of them is that you never know what you'll catch. Could be a tuna, swordfish, dolphin who knows, had marlin and sharks swim into chum slicks, never know what you'll see. Down in La every cast can be something different. Same cast to the same spot can get you a 4 lb bass,a 10 lb redfish, flounder, who knows. Just got back monday from La and visiting the relatives. Went bass fishing and caught some largemouth bass, big sunnies, crappies, two redfish about 6 and 8 lbs and hooked my first gar about 3 & 1/2 ft long. Never knew what would come up next though we were concentrating on bass. The mystery always adds to the fishing, its something that is missing when your fishing small waters where you know exactly what in terms of both size and species that you are going to catch.(though it has never stopped me from fishing them). Take care all, and Petey, I think adding this forum was a great idea.

Love the Chesapeake Bay and the ocean, so I picked Saltwater even though the Bay is brackish.

Rivers get in your blood.

I love to fish a small tributary of the Minnesota river, the same river bottom where I hunt deer & wood ducks. I use hip boots or a one man kayak and cast small jigs for walleyes & northern pike.

ya had to go and make me pick one?

Hmm...I surely am a river bug..love cattin and bassin on the James, Appomatox, Willis and so forth.
But..on the other hand..you caint beat a pond fer big ole fat fish..and it's the best place to take the younguns. Sides, the biggest fish i ever caught was outta ponds, includin my biggest largemouth which was 10lbs and 3 ozs...pond might be an acre and 1/2.

I picked lakes. But, I love to flip jigs in shallow water when possible. That usually means the more color the better. Which translates into, Im usually about as far up a tributary river on any given lake as I can get my bass boat. So, I guess I love river fishin too. ;)

Wherever the fish are...

I love to fish from the shore of lakes and ponds. I am terrified of water, so boats are usually out for me. I love bass and panfish, but sadly, I live in the interior of Alaska now and fishing here sucks. There are a few places where you can catch 6" grayling and rainbow trout on flies, but thats about it for up here unless you go down to the coast.

I used to be a river rat myself. I'm blessed with a town that has river on 3 sides of it. The Arkansas and the Walnut. Both of which run into each other which in turn dumps into the Kaw Lake to the south.

Well mazter, Mainly ive been doing alot of river fishing. I dont get to the lake much but when i do i like to go out on the boat with my cousin and go bass fishing. When i was a young'n growing up i was a hardcore catfisherman. But now im mainly bass fishing when i get the time... I like to go to some ponds from time to time too.. Im usually aiming for catfish, bass , carp (good fighers i think) and crappie. I like to go for walleyes too.

VinVega 08-09-2004 10:04 PM

I picked lakes just because I like to be lazy and just sit there and watch my line. But, I've rediscovered tailwaters this year, and haven't had fish fight me like the ones I've caught in those heavy currents.
Now as far as what kind of fish I like to catch...basically whatever's biting!:D I like panfish, so we go after a lot of those. I love catfish, but I never have any luck catching them, not so much as one on my own line. I love the fight carp give you, even though in the state own waters in KY you can't keep them. But, then again, who'd WANT to keep a carp? I just couldn't imagine eating something like that, and who'd want to mount something that ugly and...lippy?

quigleysharps4570 08-10-2004 02:26 AM

Vin take and pressure cook them carp and fix em up like salmon patties. Some real fine eating!

Andy L 08-10-2004 07:13 AM

Dang I hate to agree with you 4570, :D , but they arent bad at all. My grandma used to do that. They would sain the creek behind their house, and a couple of ponds, and then put them in a small spring near the house for a few days to clean up. Then cut out the red meat and can em. Very good fish sandwiches and patties.

Havent thought about that in years.

Those bighead carp that are causing so much problem on the Mississippi and its tributaries (knocking people out of boats and eating plainkton so other natives cant) are good, real good. We gigged a few last winter out of the Osage river. But it takes forever to clean em. Their meat is flaky white and great fried, but 10 times harder to clean than a sucker. Bones are too big to score.

Carp patties and fried potatoes, what better could you ask for? :) Other than when you have to agree with me Andy.:)
