To peep or not to peep, that is the question.

I have used a peep sight the last 4 years. I am thinking of not using one this year. I don't know why other than it seems to restrict my sight line......can anyone say wether they have switched to a peep sight and had great success or have gone away from a peep sight and shot the same?

I can't imagine shooting a compound with a pin sight without a peep. I know some people can do it, but I'm not one of them.
If you feel the peep restricts your sight, try keeping both eyes open. Again, its not for me, but I know a few people who keep both eyes open when the shoot.
Or, you could check into peeps with different size apetures.
Who knows, maybe with some practice you may be one of those people who can shoot well without a peep.

Feather, I have practiced shooting with both eyes open so I can be effective in low light conditions. I shoot just about as well with both eyes open as I do one.

Personally, I don't think that I would be accurate at all without a peep looking down my sight pin.

I t does seem that the folks I have met that do elect to do away with a peep sight add something else to their anchor point like a kisser button.

VS,
Google search "no-peep". I have one of these and it works great in all light and obviously, since it is not attached to the string, it will not affect arrow speed. I thnk you can pick one up around $30-$35.

thank you mt, I will check it out.

Personally, I use a peep and a kisser button. It gives me a solid thre point anchor/target system. If I bend correctly at the waist while shooting from elevated stands, I have never encountered a problem. I also like a larger aperature peep for those low light conditions.

I like the kisser and the peep but the peep I have seems to limit my vision. I am buying a new bow in the next month and will try to get a larger peep. Anyone have a size of peep that seems to really work for them in low-light or just to broaden your vision?

peeps come with different size apetures. Maybe you happened to get a medium or small sized peep.
I use an 1/8th peep.
If you have a short bow and a longer draw length, it can actually make a large peep appear small because of the angle of the string.
Check out Super Peeps. They make peeps angled for different length bows.
There are so many options available in sights that don't require a peep, and different kinds of peeps that I'm sure you can find something right for you. It may take some looking though.
I can tell you that with a 1/8" peep, I can see the entire deer at 20 yards.

stick with the peep ... start with the small and drill it out as you need ... 'no-peep' works well too, but can be hard to adjust ... mine is gathering dust in favor of peeps ... (whenever i shoot wheels)

peep sight

i will not shoot a bow without a peep sight. its impossible for me to be accurate without one.if you aint gonna use a peep, use a hindsight thing that goes on the little bar that comes back.:)

On the same topic of not using a peep

Is anyone using the new Hind Sight, Cabela's has it in their new archery catalog. I also noticed that Tom Miranda is using one. I just wonder if it limits the vision around it enabling you to see the hole animal?

I went back to a peep sight....I was shooting fairly good without it but my groups improved 2 inches or so when I switched back to one. With the places I am hunting this year, I need to be dead on accurate because the places are thick.
