Exspanadable Broadheads????

If you were to use one of these heads, which would you choose
and for what reasons? How much kinetic energy do you have, and
what speed is your arrow going? I never used one of these heads
as alwways used cut on contact. Thanks for the info.

I don't use mechanicals, but if I did I'd probably give grim reapers a try. I have friends that use them and have had good results.
There are many to choose from, and I haven't heard that any one brand is terrible.

FEATHERMAX;
Have you or anyother shotters here used Rocket Aeroheads,I
have heard some good things about their products.

THANKS FOR THE HELP

I've never used them, but have heard positive comments about them - nothing negative. They are fairly popular, so if they are the broadheads you have in mind, give'em a try.
Mechanical broadheads have improved in recent years. You'll probably have a harder time finding one that doesn't work.

re: expandable

previous years always used fixed last year switched to expandable didnt care for them the ones i used had rubber bands to hold the blades down into place i am pretty sure there are other ways of doing this i found they are alot of trouble to put in quiver sometimes the bands broke for no appearant reason sometimes they broke while walking to stand or stalking so this year i am shooting rocky mountain fixed again thats my lip happy huntin

Spitfire 125's

I have used the Spitfire 125gr. Broadhead's, They fly very , very flat. They expand on Impact, I have been able to stick 4 fingers in the exit hole & on a few entrance hole's. I have shot Deer with them at about every angle possible, Even Left handed on 1 deer.

I have shot & Had very effective results out ot 40 yds. The Deer I shot this year was an 8 point @ 37 yards, He maybe went 25 yards after the shot. I have never lost a deer with them either, I also like the fact I can replace just the Blade's, and they are adjustable with a set screw. So you can have them open up easier or a little stiffer. I have them set about in the middle, They havent let me down yet, So I have no desire to switch.

I do use a Crossbow, & Im shooting them @ 310fps.;)

read articles in april 2005 bowhunting world mag titled "a hog hunting primer" by richard combs.

and in same mag an article: "deciphering the arrow penetration puzzle" by bob robb.

both articles may, or may not influence your decision.

I shot the Rocket Steel 100's and they were very accurate. I shot a buck and doe with them however neither passed through. They both died fast. The buck did not have a great blood trail (partly my fault, not the greatest shot) but the doe only ran 60 yards. I would not hesitate to use them again. Good luck.

I switched over to Muzzy's this year after some poor blood trails with my expandables. I am happy as can be with the Muzzy 100 Grains 3 blades.
