Idle thought: a Rocky Lottery

Just kicking around an idea here.

Please tell me what you think of this.

Suppose a number of you send me nice shooting-related items. Everyone who send me something gets one chance (name on a slip). When I have a good assortment of neat stuff, I pull one of the names and he/she gets the whole lot.

I'd probably ask for a buck per item to help pay me to ship the lot out.

If you folks think it's a fun idea, I'll come up with more formal rules and such.

Thoughts?

ROCKY LOTTERY

Hey Rocky--The southern outdoorsman has a lottery--each responding member picks a 3 number set. The winner is the person with the correct number on the date selected by the administrater, that the state nightly number is drawn.

Yeah, but who supplies the prizes?

In my idea, everyone who enters kicks in a prize, and the winner takes all. We'd specify a dollar value, to keep things level (or we'd have one guy adding a 50-dollar knife and somebody else a ten-cent keychain).

But if ten guys each kick in a ten-dollar prize, the winner will get a hundred bucks worth of gear. See?

Rocky --You asked for ideas--it's your forum you run it the way you want. With my way you would only lottery when you had a prize donated and not a forced prize. There are plenty of opportunities for private and public to donate w/o taxing anyone. Also i would not be interested if a slip of paper in a hat is used, too much chance of some wrong doings. just my ho.

Sounds like a good plan to me Rocky... just can't think of anything I'm ready to give up just yet;)

As for trust, well if I couldn't trust Rocky to run it right, not sure who I could trust. Have never seen him unfair to anyone here on the board, nor to not be the first person to lend a hand when needed.

I hear ya, cd. But I'd be doing the slip-drawing.

Sounds good to me.
I actually have a ton of stuff that's still in the box from raffles and banquets. I could certainly part with some items and who knows maybe I'd be adding more to the garage.
