Shooting the Swiss 1931 Karbiner

It was too nice to stay inside so I took the Swiss 1931 to the range. This is a mild shooting and accurate rifle. I often get strange glances from other shooters who seem amazed that the straight bolt holds together. Of course these rifles are safe and a joy to shoot. Anyone else shooting a Swiss? All the best...

I really enjoy my K 31. I haven't had it very long but it is a pleasure to shoot. I am still trying to work up a load that is at least close to the GP-11 that I shoot. It is there...I just have to find it.

Gil,

Good post, as usual. One small point, not to penalize you for spelling, (LOL) but German is an official language of Switzerland and a "carbine" is "Karabiner". Verstehen Sie das?

First off i apologise for the necro-post, but i saw something today related to it.

At the place i do my surplus shopping, they had a fair number of rifles that i thought looked like K-31's but were most definately shorter then normal.

I know there is/was a "carbine" version, this was was roughly the length of a M44 carbine, I'm just curious because the only ones i have ever seen were noticeably longer.

The Swiss K31 Karbine has about a 24 inch barrel and is nearly 44 inches overall (I just measured my K31). It would be interesting to check the hang tag or ask the shop staff what they are selling. Hope this helps. All the best...

that sounds about right for the "normal" normal ones i have seen. just a little shorter, but not much, than a 91/30.

these others showed that they were k-31's, but i'll try to get a better look this week when i have more time.

I have one of the rifle versions, and even has the left handed bolt coversion on it, use it to shoot along with my brother-in-law in military matches and just plain paper punching
