YB14,

There is an old(older than me) adage(saying). You get what you pay for. In this case that is probably less than you expect. A 315 dollar over/under isn't going to give you what you expect, I think. Wait for a while and try to get a better gun...or buy a good utilitarian slide action shotgun. It's gonna be a better buy for certain.

Most everyone that I know that have Biakals have no complaints. Lot of them use them for duck guns where the get hard use in all sort of weather conditions. They are not light weights for sure. Not my cup of tea but I do know at least a dozen satisfied owners. I don't think there is much difference between the original Biakal and the Rem. Spartan, just the name. Only one I have shot was a 16 ga. and I did well breaking claybirds.

All I know about Spartan is that a fella I know decided to pay the $20 less for one of their single shots than he would have for a H&R at the same store last fall. It fell apart less than a month into squirrel season. They are honoring the warranty but have a backlog so he still has not gotten it back (It broke down last november and was shipped out within the week it litterally fell apart in his hands)

All I can say is be careful. Like Skeet said you get what you pay for. On the flip side alot of folks have had good luck with the EAA guns (Biakal).

Your money, your choice.

It depends

I bought a 16 gauge Baikal sxs for $300 and think it is an OK gun. I could not find a 16 gauge double at a price I wanted to pay.

On the other hand, if I wanted a decent superposed, I would shop the used gun racks and see what is available. All the best...
Gil
