Put a Brake on Trashed a scope

Ol Roy is a learnin'

Put a Holland QD on the 338 Win and promptly put the scope out of commission, at least on that thing.

Put scope on the 222 to see if it's really trashed or if the recoil was moving things around in there.

Had a bit of a problem with the scope sliding also. Switched to Burris Signature rings and degreased everything real well and that part of it seems to work.

Ordered a SS 16X and some rings for the old girl. We'll see how that goes.

What brand of scope was it

I'm almost ashamed to tell ya

Never tho't of moving up to 338 or using a brake when scope was purchased. It was great on the 270 and the 338 before the brake.

New scope on the way.

Weaver Tactical 4.5X14 - 44 with a set of Burris Signature rings.

That otta do it.

Cabela's will replace the scope. Good deal. They are good to work with. Me being a star customer and all:rolleyes:

I had no idea that the brake was such a tough thing on scopes.

I'll put the return one on anything that doesn't have a brake. In this case it will be a 222;)

I really don't think the brake caused the scope to take a dump.I have had many guns with brake's and never had a scope go bad.

The brake reduces felt recoil to the shoulder so why wouldn't the gun and scope also have less reaction to the shot?
I'm with Boyd, I don't think the brake trashed the scope. When it's your time to go it's just your time.

Roy,
Tell us how you like the new Weaver after you have had a chance to check it out.

weaver scope

LOVE it:)

I really like the first focal plane idea. Reduces the stress of having to refigure whata mil with every power. Makes the .2mil mil dot useful for adjustments.

Mounting job is rock solid with the 250 grain bullets at 2800. But, wouldn'tcha guess, with 225s at 2900 she slid forward. But thankfully because of the signature rings left no marks whatever. That is good.

I put a cheater bar on the scope screw wrench and hawg'd 'em down. The star wrench looks more like its threaded, now. But I bet she holds.

Cabelas returned bummed scope

Got the replacement the other day. Put it on the 222. Still like the scope and Cabelas.

Will put it on a super hootie 224 something or another. 100 grn bullet at some phenomenal velocity. Otta be a real bbl burner. :o But that's ok.
