Set Triggers..... Help!!

I just bought a used Thompson Center Hawkens 50 caliber, beautiful condition for $75.00 last night. I haven't shot it yet but did find one small problem already. The rear set trigger does not do anything, no tell tale "click" no change in the forward trigger period. Any ideas on how to fix this or what may be causing it? I tried turning the little screw by the triggers either way but no change. Any help would be appreciated before I have to take it to the shop.

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

Welcome to the Forum; you came to the right place. I suggest you contact Thompson/Center in Rochester, NH and let them be guided by your situation. T/C is customer-oriented and may fix or replace your trigger group for a small fee or for free. Your gun may have been altered by a prior owner who wanted to "adjust" the trigger. If parts are needed, T/C has plenty. Hope this helps.

Thanks Adam, I am calling them today as a matter of fact. i just thought maybe there was a known fix for this. I do competition trigger groups for AR-15's, 10-22's and others but have never messed with these.

Ok, here's the deal. I called and talked to a nice lady today at Thompson Center and explained my situation. I was told I could send the trigger group in and they would send me a replacement. I asked how much and was informed it wouldn't cost a dime. Great Service!! I told her I would send it in tomorrow. Meanwhile since I had nothing to lose I tore it apart and discovered that the spring wire that hooks to the main trigger was under the trigger and not in the slot. I drove out the hammer pin, slid the hammer back, put the wire in, slid the hammer forward and drove back in the pin. Works excellent now. But after speaking with Thompson Center and hearing how they stand behind their product I would not hesitate to buy another of their rifles, or pistols. Thanks for the help Adam.

I bought a used Renegade that had the same problem. I wasn't feeling brave enough to tear into it, so I sent it in and they replaced it with no questions asked. Got to love that kind of service.

there isn't enough room on this forum for me to say enough good things about thompson-center's customer service.
