Savage trigger

Hi, I just got a savage 7 mm and find that the trigger is kind of heavy ! Is the any way I could reduce that trigger weight to something better ?

Thank you

Louis, which model? New or older?

My Savage has the accu trigger which comes with adjustment instructions.

savage trigger

If it's an saccutrigger it's adjustable. If it's not you can have it adjusted by a good gunsmith of change it out to a timmny,Sharpshooter or other mfgrs trigger. I'm not sure if Savage's "Accutrigger" is avaliable for purchase.

ANYBODY KNOW? :)

The AccuTrigger is not available for separate purchase. Maybe someday.

In the meantime, older Savages can be tuned, or the trigger replaced, as suggested above. Sharpshooter Supply sells a very popular one.

NOT to take away from Louis post on the trigger but since the 7mm is a little overkill on a whitetail, is there a round available that is a little lighter that can be shot from this same gun but not as destructive on the whitetail? I used mine this year to take one deer because I just never used it for that before and had an area with some long range shots available....did a number upon exit but love the rifle....want to tame it down for deer..maybe this will help Louis too...thanks....oh and I don't reload either..market rounds?

I don't know of a light load in factory 7mm Mag.

That could change at any moment. Several ammo companies are now selling such loads, marketed for training, practice or smaller shooters. They're out in several calibers such as 30-06, but check the Remington, Winchester and Hornady web sites for others.

Other than that, it's reload time. I have an article called "Matched Loads" that describes the process.
