Surplus ammo find

The local gun shop got in a horde of surplus ammo. I was looking at once-fired .303 British brass when the shop owner suggested I look at the loaded military .303 ammo. Some was in original boxes, cases and cans from WWII and probably corrosive. I declined and was about to leave. The owner directed me to another stash of .303 military ammo. I nearly fell over when I saw .303 British ammo made by Winchester dated 1981, boxer-primed non-corrosive for $20.00 a hundred. I bought a sealed can of 400 rounds for $80.00. All the best...

Gil,

Will you go back to that horde of mil ammo and do some looking for me? I will take a can of sealed .303 Winchester ammo , dated 1981, of 400 rounds. If you see any 6.5x53R Rumanian rifle ammo, 9mm Bergman Bayard pistol ammo and 9mm Steyr pistol ammo, please grab all you can get. I can use some 8mm Lebel and clips, 8mm Kroptchek and 11MM Gras ammo. If the guy has all this stuff, have him hold it and I will drive down and buy all he has.

It depends

Adam,
I saw roughly between 75 and 100 of the .50 caliber size cans loaded with assorted ammo. There are several 400-round cans of 1981 Winchester ball (I wonder who that was loaded for?) and other assorted ammo. Some 8mm Mauser rounds made by FN was already sold along with a bunch FN .308 ammo. He has thousands of rounds of pristine military ammo.

I did pick up .303 British ammo from WWII in like-new 5-round charger clips for $1.00 a loaded clip. The gun shows get a dollar for just the clip. All the best...

Gil,

WOW! "Between 75 and 100 .50 caliber cans of ammo." It sounds like the old boy died too soon and did not get to shoot off that stash. I hope it was all stored properly.

Surplus ammo find

The Winchester .303 ball dated 1981 is in factory boxes and is bright and clean ammo. Everything in the stash seems to have been stored and handled with great care. He had 15 Model 1911s and 1911A1s that were the best I have ever seen for sale. It would be worth a trip down to see the stuff for sale. Bring lots of cash. All the best...
