mossberg 100 atr

I bought one, in .270, got it home, and the bolt came out of the gun...(broken part...) so it was either go thru the store, or call manufacturer... I called the factory, and they sent me part 3 and part 4 to repair the rifle... all is now well... But, it was 'touch-n-go' to buy the thing in the first place... they got funny rules in wal-mart stores.. a customer cannot handle a gun until the purchase is made, and they hand it to you out in the parking lot... if I could have handled the rifle, I would have found the faulty bolt stop.. i understand that the Mossberg 100's are sold exclusively at wal-mart stores... otherwise I would have went thru a local gun-shop even if it cost a bit more.... erm wow. Ok Welcome to the board first off second off what in the world are your wal-marts thinking? I wouldn't purchase a gun I hadn't handled.

Anyway glad it is working for you now.

I don't think Wal-Mart has exclusive rights to it.
I've seen them at Gander Mountain and a local shop as well.
I don't like buy guns at Wally World, they get enough of my money.
I bought a Mossberg 20ga from them, I could handle it as well as my kids but the manager had to walk it outside the building.
A lot depends on the manager of the stores.

Had a friend just yesterday tell me that wal-mart will not allow consumers to handle firearms...He had income tax $$ and wanted to buy right then..guess they dont mind losing a few sales...

That must be a store policy or a regional thing. I have 5 WalMart stores within 45 minutes drive from my home and all of them will allow you to handle the firearms. I have even been in Walmart's in the 2 neighboring states and they both allow me to handle the firearms as well.

They only stock a few rifles maybe 10 per store and the same # of shotguns. All the stores seem to have the same stock so 20 guns to choose from is a pretty small stock compared to most the local sporting good stores that have 100+ in stock.
