The best African game taxidermy you've ever seen?

For those of you who've had the chance to study professional African game taxidermy, who do you feel does the best job overall?

I was at the Mid-West sports show in Minneapolis a couple days ago. I spent a bit of time with a PH from Africa at his booth and commented on the quality of the mounts he had. He told me that they were done in the U.S. by a taxidermist not too far away. He told me that the taxidermists in this country are on average, better than in Africa. He also cleared up a lot of questions I had about shipping, dipping, crating....

The best African mounts (or any other mounts for that matter) that I've ever seen are at the Cabela's store in Owattona, MN. I'm sure their other stores are of equal quality. There's a display of the big 5, including an elephant - unbelievable unless you've seen it.

While I haven't seen a ton of african game mounts, our taxidermist has handled quite a bit over the last several years, and it looked as good or better than the mounts I've seen in Cabelas in Michigan and WV.

Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops both buy mounts or take donations to hang in their stores. Much of what they have are older mounts, so sometimes the quality is lacking compared to todays professional mounts. Plus they tend to get dusty if their not cleaned often. This adds to the shabby look. I've seen enough now to recognize european/african taxidermy from US mounts. It differs from the work I'm seeing produced here in the states. grayghost
