A question of quirks?
The other day it was pointed out to me that I am a little more east Texan than most of the other east Texans around here. In point of fact it was pointed out that I rarely ever say hello, and goodbye. Instead it tends to be "What you know good?" and "Have a good un." (Or on the rare ocasion a simple Adios will do) I don't know when I started doing that, in fact I have said that as long as I can remember. Don't know why some people find it hilarious.
Anyway. I was just wonderin' if I was the only oddball around that had some old faishioned/deep south quirks in the way they talk. GoodOlBoy |

GoodOlBoy,
Just be happy you live in a part of the United States where they still say hello and good bye. Around these parts, nobody is good with manners. Seems as though everybody is in too much of a hurry to pay attention to manners. |
Did you ever see Grumpy Old Men ? That's what it's like for real here.

GOB, I grew up in North Carolina, so I often use words and stuff I picked up when I was a kid. It drives my friends crazy when I say stuff like, "Yall". To me it just feels normal to talk like that even though I haven't been back east in 10 years (am I that old already?). On the other hand, most of my southern accent is gone and I often got called on it when I was going to college in Texas. The lingo was there, but no accent. A little off topic, but since we're talking about Texas, yall have some of the best looking women down there. One pretty gal after another. :D |
Yep. I say Ya'll all the time. And we surely do have some of the purtiest gals you ever did see.
