AR-15s

Folks,
I saw my first M16 in 1965 while in the USAF and bought my first AR-15 clone about 10 years ago. Back in February, I had the good fortune to sell the AR-15 clone to my nephew for exactly what I paid for it. On top of that, a windstorm took down a 75-foot ash tree and my homeowners insurance paid handsomely for the tree removal (done by myself with the aid of the nephew and a neighbor). I was in a gun shop and able to pick up a police department turn-in AR-15 that was still in the plastic wrapper in the original box. The gun shop sold it cheap and I have been shooting the monthly rifle matches with it. These rifles can be very accurate at 100 yards. Most of our match shooters use AR-15s and turn in the best scores.

My point is, I know a few folks that really dislike the AR-15 and all share one common trait; none of them own or shoot this rifle. Anyone else encounter any bias against the AR-15? All the best...

I think the deal is there's been so much hype, in both directions on the ar-15/m-16 series, so that it's evolved into one of those "you love them/you hate them" type deals.

It has it's strengths, and weaknessess, just like every other item made by man.

I shot my AR

These are really fun guns to shoot and tend to be more accurate than AKs or SKS carbines. I own all three types and like them. the ARs ware just much more accurate. All the best...

The only person I've run in to so far that doesn't like my AR is my wife. She calls it my ugly black gun:D

They are very accurate, but the fact that they are self soiling is a pain in the ass cleaning,... i have a armilite m15a4 at home and here at the office (im a Marine 0341) i have a m16a4... good fun to shoot. but long day of cleaning afterwards.

I bought a bushmaster a few years back after selling my Ruger Mini-14; I wanted something that I could use for varminting as well as a back up to my M-14 should the SHTF!:D

I'm going to get a 16" upper soon and, eventually, a 20" or 24" upper for varmints.
