rough guestimate please
Buddy of mine is looking at an old enfield in 303 that another buddy of mine has. Gun has been sitting unoiled in a closet for 30+ years. Well used, smoke stained, etc etc. Bore still looks pretty good, action works (needs oil BAD) and has decent trigger. All original parts bought by the current owners father out of a surplus store barrel some 40-50 years ago, and is was used ALOT for hunting. Nice pantina, no real finish, wood is ok.
He is looking at it as a shooting gun not a collectors piece. Any rough ideas? GoodOlBoy |
It depends
Does the rifle have open sights (No. 1 Mark III Enfield from WWI) or an aperture sight (No. 4 Mark I Enfield from WWII)? In either case, the rifle probably sold for about $25 to $30 many years ago. It is worth more now because it is still original and has not been "sporterized". The local gun shops sell British Enfields for around $100.00 in the condition you describe. Hope this helps. All the best...

Perfecto. Exactlly what I needed. And nope this one ain't been sporterized.
Thanks Gil GoodOlBoy |
You would have a very hard time getting $100 for it around here. For one that`s not in mint shape there going for $ 50 on the low end in good shape to abt $90 on the top end last I paid any attention. I pick up one in the condition your is in for $25 awhile back, but the only reason I bought it was it was to cheap to pass up.
