Benelli super black eagle

Fellow killers, the Dr. is still looking for any advice on choke tubes and shell selections for the SBE. It has a 28 inch barrel and I will soon be getting out there shooting myself. any input would help and save me some money too.

I've got a buddy who has a SBE, and he put a truglo choke in his gun. With 3 1/2" shells it patterned extremely well out to 60 yards. Can't say you'll have the same results, but I haven't ever seen another gun shoot turkey loads like that. JMHO

thanks for the input gd357. You dont happen to know what kind of shells he was shooting do you? or what diameter that truglo tube was? Any more input would certainly save me time and money which witha new family is rather tight. lol

I'll talk with him this weekend, and see. I'll get back with you asap on that.

I'm reasonably sure it's the gobble-stopper xtreme, with a .665 constriction. he's using the winchester supreme 3 1/2" 2oz #5 loads. Another good option would be their strut stopper choke (.643). Hope that helps.

60 yards?
Wow that is some gun.

Yeah, after the patterns with my gun, I was a bit depressed... Gotta find the $ for an SBEII...

I shoot a SBE II with Winchester 3 1/2" #5 and killed 11 turkeys so far with the factory Improved Cylinder choke. Haven't missed one yet.... Knock on wood.

As they say, the only reason i shoot a 3 1/2 is because they don`t make a 4 in. I have an 835 with a pure gold hevi-shot choke tube. With 6 shot hevi-shot it will spin a pistol target, and put at least 30 pellets in a 3 inch circle at 40 yards, and still has at least a dozen at 60 yards. while i try to call them to within 35 yards, i will not hesitate at 50. Also i don`t judge range that great, so a number of times i have pulled the trigger thinking he was close to 40 yards, when really he was closer to 60, and my 835 has always saved me. Also several times i have been working a bird and he hangs up further than 40 yards, and something spooks him, like another hunter, had a coyote break things up a couple times, and many times a hen comes in and he goes away. And each time i think to myself, shoulda just went ahead and killed him, could have been back to the truck by now, lol.
