Gut Hook sharpening?

Just bought a blade with a decent gut hook got home and found out it was duller than a q-tip. My crock sticks won't fit into the bend to sharpen it, was wondering what suggestions everybody had?

Find a dowel rod approx the same size as the area ya want to sharpen and put some wet or dry of the appropriate grit around it an sharpen away! ;)

I'm a lazy ol' dude so I use a Dremel tool with the small little grey sanding points that have a diamond abrasive in them. They are very fine and do a good job of sharpening where other tools won't fit. They also polish the metal giving a professional looking product.

I always thought a gut hook would be formidable in a fight. Slash 'em with the blade and zip 'em up with the gut hook. Messy.

Best wishes, Bill

Just stay away from gut hook knives. :D

Another thing you can try is this....

some of those small narrow diamond sharpening sticks designed for use on serrated edges should work well with practice.

A chainsaw file works well.
