Got my Krag back
I dropped off a sporterized Krag at the gunsmith to get a new barrel installed. It was finished yesterday and looks wonderful. I used an Adams & Bennett large ring '98 Mauser barrel in .30-06 from Midway. It was rethreaded and rechambered in .30/40. The 1898 rifle is good for a long, long time.
The next rifle awaiting a new barrel is a sporterized 1909 Argentine Mauser. That should be done this week. All the best... Gil |
Gil,
We have heard about all this rebarrelling bidness, but when are the guns going hunting? Adam |
Adam
I have to wait for the season to open to use these rifles. All the best...

Gil,
Good answer; what hunting season you talking about? From my count, ya better bring the truck. Eh wot? Adam |

Generally, I hunt with one rifle at a time. All the best...

Just asking. Could you have found a 1903 Springfield barrel in 30'06 caliber,to rechamber to 30/40 caliber? It would not have to be rethreaded. Did you want something other the 1 in 10 rifling? Frank |

I have had several Krags rebarreled and have used new surplus 1903-A3 barrels. The 03-A3 barrels had to be shortened and rechambered. The Midway barrels at 1 in 10" twist and shoot very well. All the best...
