Enfield knife bayonet

I stopped in a favorite gun shop to look around. They gave me an Enfield knife bayonet marked 9-1950. Looks like it goes on a No. 4 Mark I. I was thrilled and especially at the price. Take care...

Joe,

WOAH! Did that knife bayonet have a REVERSE pommel? Did it have a scabbard? What was the price?

Please cover these points in future bayonet posts.

If it has a no.4 socket and a blade, sounds like the No.9 bayonet. These are pretty common in surplus channels. I think they look neat!

Old Scout,

I have seen both types: with the solid pommel and the reversable pommel. None ever had scabbards. I have the reversable pommel type and made a leather scabbard for same.

Old Scout nailed it

It is a No. 4 socket bayonet. Form Joe's post the price sounds like it was free if the gun shop gave it to him. All the best...

Joe,

I ask again, does the socket swivel around to affix to the No.4 and then swivel back to be utilized as a knife? I have seen other versions with the socket permanently in the affixed position.

Yes, I understand the bayonet was FREE. Did it come with a scabbard?

Calm down. It is a No. 4 knife bayonet that does not swivel, dance nor serve drinks. It affixes to a No. 4 Enfield like the spike bayonet. No, it did not come with a scabbard. If it did, I would have mentioned it. Does that clear it up for you? Take care...
