Hey Gil..

If ya want to keep your guns from rusting..move to Wyoming. Heck you can leave tater chips out for a day or two and they are still good. Not much rust here. Was in the junk yard the other day. Saw a 59 Chebby there..glass was good no rust and the bumpers were shining like new. Key was in the trunk..turned it and clunk..it opened all by itself. No rust here.to speak of.

Gil,

Very good link. I use the Old Army Manual procedure of cleaning the bore and then wiping it in and out with G.I. Mil Spec Rifle Grease. I have stored guns for 5 or 10 years with no hint of rust. I also used dessicant packets in my vaults and recharge them when the blue dog turns pink.

I'm testing 3 in 1 Rust Shield at the present. It is in drawer with actions,i.e.; (2) Commercial Mausers,Argentine,Mexican, and VZ-24. Been in there about a month with no signs of rust.

I agree with Gil

A film of grease inside and out is the way to go to protect firearms. Take care...
