Stunned at shotgun price on an H&R
I was in wally-world this weekend picking up my hunting license (there's 60+ dollars down the hole) and they had a H&R wood and blued old style single shot 12 on the shelf. And they wanted $127 for it. . . . . What the heck? Since when did H&Rs start selling for more than $100? I mean don't get me wrong I love mine thats 28+ years old and they last forever, but sheesh I can get a mossberg maverick for $167 and it is a pump with interchangeable chokes!

Firearm prices have been spiralling now for quite some time.....including single shots. Check out used prices on the internet for various single shot shotguns....most are running around $100 or so.
As for the Maverick, if I am not mistaken, these are made in China, and are not a Mossberg, but a Mossberg clone. After China put lead paint in our kids toys, poison in our dogs food and treats, and no heparin in vials that were labeled "Heparin", I think I would forgo that "bargain' Maverick for the single shot. ....i.e., I ain't buying anything from China, if I can help it! |
MY MISTAKE!!! I guess that they are licensed by Mossberg and made in MEXICO!!!
......still wouldn't buy one! There is enough crap floating into this country from Mexico; both legal and illegal!;) |
The Maverick advertised by Academy sports actually says made in Texas (the sticker says made in USA) on it. Still $169.

I'm with 16 ga guy. I don't buy anything made in china. On mexico I'm flexible. Giving someone in mexico a job might just keep them there. ;)

If you don't buy things from Mexico or China, where are you getting your pocket knives?

I fully agree with you guys about avoiding buying stuff made in China, Mexico, etc. (for my part I'll include Jap vehicles too). With that being said however when was the last time you saw any consumer electronics that weren't made in China? For all our buy-only-American intentions, it's hard these days not to buy stuff made in China, Taiwan, Mexico, and the like.
