smoothbore guns

Does anyone here who owns a Smoothbore use it for deer hunting. What are the challenges and limitations of shooting PRB with Smoothbore. I'm going to either buy a 62 cal. smoothbore gun. (or barrel for one of my T/C rifles) I've heard some people say that you shouldn't take longer than a 50 yard shot for deer hunting. the reason I want a smoothbore is I would like to start turkey hunting and to use it also for deer hunting.

Johnny Reb,

I have used a ,50 smoothbore with PRB and shot loads. My max range with Ball is about 75 yards, Conicals do not shoot well in a smoothbore, in my experience,

You would need to shoot it i have read were a guy has a trade gun and his max yards is 85 yard.
Like any smoth bore gun work with it its part of the fun finding what the loads the gun likes.
I see lots of guys start off with max loads and complain the gun wont shoot
start off with min or mid loads and work up.
