New Rifle Craving

1 Attachment(s)
I have been looking at the Cimarron Arms(Uberti) Texas Brush Popper in 357 mag and I gotta say boys I got a hankerin. That half round half octagonal barrel looks really sweet to me with the straight grip. Problem is I just can't choke down the $1200 price tag on it.

Know what I mean?

They're fine looking guns for sure. I'll have to agree with you about that $1200 price tag. That seems awful high for Uberti imports. You could probably get a Browning BLR, a Leupold scope, and have some change left over for that kind of money.

Guess I'll just keep my little Marlin .357 at that price. Have to say .357 carbines are great little guns.

Very nice picture

I was not aware of the price. Guess I'll pass for now. All the best...

GOB,

A .357, in a carbine, is "sending a boy to do a man's work" iffin you are after deer. I like lever guns, but my minimum is the tried and true .30/30.

Oh I wasn't thinkin deer, I was thinkin brush poppin for coyotes, maybe a fat hair now and then that sorta thing. A pot gun so to speak. Kinda like a good old 32-20, but in an easy to get (and pretty inexpensive) pistol round.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade my 336 30-30 for three just like it and a hundred dollars, but I sure do hanker for a 357 levergun.

Well Adam is right

about the 357 for deer. But somea them deer in Texas is kinda small. Fer such a big state they sure do have little critters..cept'n Hawgs. Actually GOB that 110 gr cast or soft point plinker with unique load in the 30-30 would be ideal for brush poppin etc. Just find out where she shoots. I had one of those 357 lever guns offered to me at the last gun show. Didn't buy it.and the 1894 in 218 Bee just wasn't right either. If I find one in 44 Mag I might just buy it if'n the price is right. Money gettin tight round here and lots of guns for sale.

Prolly most of that high price is because of all that cowboy action shooting. I know they sue were not all that expensive when they first came out The Uberti's I mean. I bought a 4.75" barrels Colt clone in .45 ACP and .45 Long Colt for right around $180 and change as memory serves. It was more accurate with the ACP cylinder and I only sold it because the nickel plating was peeling off in strips. I should have just had my gunsmith strip all the nickel off and reblue the gun. It was more accurate than the genuine Colt single action with the same length barrel. Dang it, let another good one get away.
