Remington 1911

Remington just announced that they are bringing out a 1911 .45 ACP handgun in June 2010. The link below offers more information. I recently acquired a Colt 1911 Battle of the Marne from the 1960s so I am not in the market for a Model 1911, All the best...

Gil,

I have seen pictures of the Remington 1911 and it looks good. Historically, Remington made many 1911/1911A1 pistols for the U. S. Government.

I like the .45 ACP and carry one daily.

Everyone is making a 1911 clone nowadays......the shorter list would be whose not making a 1911......:D

Too bad most aren't making it in the 'right' caliber (that would be .38 Super;))

Mr. 16 gauge,

I like the .38 Super, which is akin to the .357 in a semi-auto. I also like the .357, but for serious business, I think the .45 ACP is a better round when loaded right.

What is the .38 Super load you prefer?

Adam, The .38 Super is a good working gun if you want more fire power than a revolver has and if the .355 bullet will do what you need done. BUT, a .357 with .358 dia. bullets of 168 or 173 grains is in a different league. I am talking about those bullets being pushed by about 14.5 grains of 2400. That is a different league. It is okay to respectfully disagree; isn't it?

Hello Adam;
Here are the three factory expanding rounds that I experimented with......the PMC round didn't give reliable expansion and only clocked out at a little over 1050 fps. The Cor-bons fragmented badly and were quite violent, but they are difficult to come by and somewhat expensive, esp. to preactice with....
So......I carry my piece (Springfield Armory) loaded with the Winchester silvertips. They were pretty uniform in expansion and clocked out at 1250 fps in my gun.

I always thought (and wanted) a Colt combat commander in .38 Super.....thought it would be a great CCW piece. I have this instead.

I also have a handload using Remington's 125 grn GSHP and (IIRC...don't have my load book in front of me) a charge of SR 4756.....it is extremely accurate and expands very well.

HEY!......FOLK'S AT REMINGTON! ARE YAH LISTENING!!!!!!!!!

Larryjk,

I agree with you. A .357 Mag loaded with my favorite Keith-type 173 grain SWC bullet is my favorite .357 load.

Adam
