.32 BP rifle

My son has a keen interest in shooting black powder, but my .50 cal. Hawken rifle is far too big for him to shoot.

I'd like to get him a .32 rifle and was wondering if any of you own and shoot this caliber? What make and model do you own and how do you like them?

Thanks for your help and advice.

I don't own a .32, but I've been looking at them as well for squirrel hunting. Here is the one that I've been looking at for a while now.

How old is your son? Why is it he can't handle the 50 cal? Is the recoil too much, or does the stock not fit him properly?

You might do well to find an older, used muzzleloader and have the stock cut down to fit him properly. Just a thought, FWIW.........

To be honest he is only 7-years-old. With some assistance he can shoot a .50 cal and gets quite upset if he can't.

I noticed a used .45 Pedersoli for sale locally that is only 44" long and weights 5.4 lb. This might be a good gun for him if I cut it down a little. I'd prefer a .32 or .36 as a squirrel snowshoe hare gun though...

I have a .36 TC Seneca that I bought about 30 years ago, I told my grandson when he is 8 he can shoot it, he is 6 now. I won some squirrel rifle shoots with it back when my eyes were younger, don't go to any now.
