Happy Texas Independence Day, 175 Years!

To all of my fellow Texans, Happy Independence Day! 02 March 1836, 175 Years ago today the Republic of Texas declared our independence from Mexico.

This state was its own country for about 9 years before becoming a state of the United States.

Happy Birthday Texas.

As a Matter of Fact

Texas has been its own Replublic (Country) twice in its history. The first time is when the people of Texas won her independence from Mexico and the second time when she seceded from the United States during the war against Northern Aggression (I.E. the Civil War).

Bulletpusher, Why in the heck didn't Texas push south to the istmus of Panama and plant the flag during the Pancho Villa days and say"We'll take it north of here"? We wouldn't have half the troubles we do now.

The Pastor of our church went down to the Alamo last week, a 30 year anniversary trip. His great, great grandfather was the second signer of the Texes Declaration of Independance, a man named Palmer.
