What are some of your favorite sound tracks from western/cowboy movies? Here are a few of mine..

-Theme from "The Cowboys" (John Wayne)
-theme from "The Magnificent Seven"
-Theme from "Silverado"
-Theme from "Wyatt Earp"
-Theme from "Tombstone"
-Theme from "High Chapparal" (TV series)
-Theme from "Lancer" (TV series)
-Theme from "How the west was won"
-THeme from "Bonanza" (of course!;))

....and while it really isn't a "Western", the music from "Last of the Mohicans" is pretty cool, also.

Theme from " Big Country " old movie but still a favorite.

Ah, all of the above plus three you did not list:

A Johnny Western song The Ballid of Palidin

And a song sung by Tex Ritter that was a hit song on the charts and won the 1953 Oscar for best song, High Noon's Do Not Forsake Me by Mr Tex Ritter.

Then there is the best western movie of all time with the song sung by the best western singing group of all time with Ken Curtis, The Searchers closing song, Ride Away, sung by the Sons of the Pioneers. This one is just an all time great movie songs, the second I hear it I see the movie in my mind's eye.

Well that might not have been a western per se...it was the west in that period.. And I loved the movie.. Those eastern indians were brutal..it was pretty close to that way

The French and Indian war was a war of extermination. The Hudson Valley was the west and we gave as good as we got in the bargain.

and the Overture (not the ballad) from the opening of Jeremiah Johnson.
