New Bow!
 

After years of deliberation, i finally spent some saving on a new Hoyt Vector 32! nothing wrong with my old bow except its 11 years old and is still pretty dang fast i think, but i went for it an ordered a new one with a fancy drop away rest. cant wait to see whats changed in the last 11 years of bows when it arrives.. all i can say is its robbery that these new bows cost more than my car is worth :(

I hear you on the price of new bows. I think I my car that is worth more than a new bow, my truck certainly isn't.

I picked up a new Matthews last year. Man things have changed. My old Jennings Buckmaster was like a stick and string compared to the new things. Still have to be able to shoot them. All the best, HOYT is a great bow.

so i picked it up, initial impressions, i dont care how light the box says it is, it aint when you put all those gadgets on it. secondly the cams of today, both mathews and hoyt it seems like all the draw weight is in the 1st 1" of draw, kinda takes so getting used to. one thing i can say though is the drop away rest is about the coolest thing i've ever seen in action. just need to get a critter in the sight picture!

A LOT of the bows today have much different draw cycles. By reaching peak weight early in the cycle, and maintaining most of that weight until the valley, the bow transfers more energy to the arrow, and then end result is faster arrow speed. Not easy to get used to if you haven't shot many of the new bows...

Story of my life.

a few weeks later im still getting used to the draw cycle . once your over the peak weight its like playing tug-o-war when the entire other team lets go of the rope, that being said im grouping carbon express piledrivers at 60 under 3 inches. better than i had hoped for. however the heavy arrow has a pretty decent drop from 20-30yds. that has me nervous. just need to get broadhead tuned and i am so amp'd to air out a few early season does!

I use a Bear bow from around 1985. Still works.

regardless of what you buy new on this site you can rest assured that you'll get a comment along the lines of... somebody's 1970 silverado runs better than those jap trucks the kids are buying or somebody's 1911 from wwII is 10x better than those plastic guns of today. i guess im just not sure how those comments help the threads ever.
