Bayonets are daggers in PA

I spotted a sale bulletin that listed Swiss Model 1918 bayonets in very good condition for one half of their previously listed price. These were needed to go with my Schmidt-Rubin 1911 and K31 rifles. So two bayonets were ordered, but I was blocked at checkout. The company will not ship bayonets to Pennsylvania because their legal staff say a bayonet could be construed as a dagger and thus it is not legal to ship same to Keystone State residents. The company would ship hunting knives, folding knives or pen knives.

I spoke to customer service and pointed out that bayonets are sold legally in Pennsylvania at gun shops, gun shows and other retail stores. I offered to get a letter from my county district attorney attesting to the legal status of bayonets. All to no avail. Even a supervisor and manager at the company would not budge. What to do?

Plan B was to ship the bayonets as a gift to my significant other in Delaware. All the best...

Glad you were able to get it figured out... I still want to get one to fit my Lee Enfield .303 (No 4, Mk 1) but they have got stupid in price up here..

No. 4, Mark 1

I am familiar with the referenced bayonet. It looks like a sharpened screwdriver and used to sell for $1.00 with a scabbard. In fact, a gun shop gave one to me as a gift. All the best...

Mine is a later rifle that uses the knife like bayonet. The last one I saw at a gun show was over $150.

Thanks for the clarity

I recall seeing the knife bayonets for the No. 4, Mark 1 rifles for sale years ago. The strange thing was they were advertised without scabbards. I also wondered what happened to the scabbards. The same is true for Russian bayonets for the 1891/30 Mosin Nagant rifles. I have never seen a scabbard because Ivan did not use them. All the best...
