Bought a Military Rifle Kinda rare

Boy is buying military out of character for me. I NEVER buy them..but this one I had to get. Was at an auction and looking at the guns etc ..Another Older old guy says.. Hell boy..you don't even know what that rifle you got in your hands is...I said..sure I do. It's a Model 1905 Ross Mark II in 303 Brit. Only military Ross really worth spit. He kinda looked at me and said..well hell there's two of us here that know what it is then. I told him...naw..there's three. Then he flew a red cape at the bull and said..it won't matter cause he was gonna buy it. Naw says I to me. I actually won the bid on the rifle at 170 bucks..mainly cause he was an idiot.. That darn thing is in really good condition..bore is good and I have shot it. Friend had a set of go no go gauges so I checked it. Darn thing shoots pretty well. I took it to a gun show locally just to get the real military guys to look it over. One really serious fellow offered me quite a bit more than I paid.. But for some odd reason..I'm gonna keep it. I have been going on a tear buying handguns lately..S&Ws but that is another story. I will try posting some pics of the Ross..oh BTW it is one of a very few with US military markings on it.. Yep..our gummit actually bought a few of 'em from the Canadians.

Good catch

I picked up a Model 1905 Ross Mark II a few years ago from a private sale for $30. It is an interesting rifle, but I am not sure it would be my first choice as a military arm. Every military collection should have one. All the best...

skeet,

Actually, the Model 1910 Ross is far superior to the Model 1905. I own several of both and I suggest you go get a M1910, compare and report back.
