Which case tumbler media?

Last night the UPS truck dropped off my Christmas present. It was a case tumbler and the Instructions stated I could use either; walnut hulls or corncob media. Ok, so this is my first case tumbler and which MEDIA should I buy? My local gunshop has both, green and orange Media for $20 per gallon-size media. One is walnut hull and the other corncob stuff. SO: which is BEST???

The walnut is the more aggressive, abrasive of the two. I have a vibrating type brass cleaner, I start with walnut to clean up, then I'll run them in corn cob to polish them up. I also add a little of the Dillon brass polish to the corn cob to make the brass shine.

I use the walnut, have for many moons.

They both work. I use whatever I find cheapest. BTW, I do not use any additives- just the walnut hulls or corncob.
Eventually, whatever you're using, the batch in the tumbler wears out. Throw it out and put in some new - you'll discover the time it takes to clean your brass goes down quite a bit.

I do not use cob of corn anymore, it does not last. I started buying crushed Pecan hulls from shellers. It works pretty good, we do not have many Walnut trees in NW FL. I am cheap or should I say thrifty :D

It depends what you prefer

I have used walnut media for decades and really like it. A few hours in the tumbler cleans up most cases. all the best...

Thanks to All for helpful input. I got a jug or green corncob media at the local gun shop. After deer season, I will clean many cases.

Adam, you should switch to Stainless Steel Pins, your cases will come out like new, inside and out including primer pockets ;)

Dom.....welcome back!

Walnut, and if you buy Zilla brand from pet stores it's a heck of alot less expensive, AND less dusty in my experience.

or see amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Zilla-11442-Gr.../dp/B001OVGPH6

you can buy it in up to 50 quart size...

GOB,

Many thanks for the input. Merry Christmas to you and yours in Deep East Texas. My happiest years were 1966-1970 when I resided on Iowa Avenue in Beaumont, TX and attended Lamar University.

My best hunt was for squirrels at Ben Hook's bear camp in Sour Lake with 4 other Texicans. Be well.

Sorry for the late reply I don't get on a computer as often as I use to.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and yours as well.

My worst day squirrel hunting..... let's be honest I've never had a bad day squirrel hunting :p

Love the walnut shells. DO NOT get anything with "rouge" or any coating. A waste of money and time. Hate cleaning off the outside of cases afterwards...
