Local Gun Shop Bargain table...

Weekly, I stop by my local gun shop (LGS) and check the bargain table. Our nearby Walmart has no such bargain table, so I support my LGS to ensure "More of the Same."

The bargain table is a constant source of partial boxes of component bullets for reloaders to try out. For example, I bought several boxes of jacketed rifle and pistol bullets for $2 to $5 for partial boxes of bullets I never loaded before. Some worked out and some were not so good.

Rifle slings, holsters, reloading tools, reloading books, etc., are on the table at 25% to 40% of retail. I am a regular customer at my LGS because if it is ever gone, the "Big Box" Stores have no provision to bring it back.

Shop Local.

Good idea! A good local gun shop is something worth supporting.

Jack,

Every Thursday morning from 0900 to about 1100 the "Tioga Militia" meets at the LGS. We are about a dozen over age 60 folks who meet at the rear of the store around the coffee pot and box of donuts.

After the LGS ends business, there will be no replacement. Like the "Lower Forty" of gun magazine fame, our group will be no more.

I agree

The big box stores have not hurt the local "mom and pop" gun shops in my area. For one thing, the big box stores mark up used gun prices by at least 50 percent of their acquisition cost. As a result, it is easily possible to see a used gun on the racks with a higher hang tag price that the same new gun a few feet away. That does not make any sense.

Secondly, my local gun shop knows me, is willing to deal and give discounts. The local gun shop never hassles me or give me a bad time if I have a problem with a firearm purchase. I support my local gun shop. Take care...
Joe
