ALWAYS Stay Alert!
Yesterday I was running a handgun class in my backyard. During a break, a fellow advised he had some old .22 ammo to get rid of. I went and got a semi-auto .22 rifle and decided to give my students some rifle practice. The first 3 rounds went off ok and then a mere "puff" and some smoke around the bolt. ALL STOP!
I removed the bolt and ran a cleaning rod from breech to muzzle. About 2 inches from the muzzle, the rod hit an obstruction. A firm tap pushed a bullet out of the muzzle! I had unloaded the rifle earlier and I scooped up all the other Old .22 ammo and saw it leave on the trash truck 30 minutes later. The Take Away here is: WHENEVER any gunfire sound is less than normal, STOP and Check everything out! Adam |
Good catch!
