, but they arent bad at all. My grandma used to do that. They would sain the creek behind their house, and a couple of ponds, and then put them in a small spring near the house for a few days to clean up. Then cut out the red meat and can em. Very good fish sandwiches and patties.
Havent thought about that in years.
Those bighead carp that are causing so much problem on the Mississippi and its tributaries (knocking people out of boats and eating plainkton so other natives cant) are good, real good. We gigged a few last winter out of the Osage river. But it takes forever to clean em. Their meat is flaky white and great fried, but 10 times harder to clean than a sucker. Bones are too big to score.
