I agree with the greybeards
Adam was right on regarding concerns about upgrading the SKS. It is a fine combat arm as is, but there are much better candidates in pursuit of accuracy. A few months back, a chap came to our NMC rifle match with an SKS where we shoot targets at 100 yards (slow fire standing, rapid fire sitting, rapid fire prone and slow fore prone). He was a game fellow and tried his best. He declined to use a club M1 Garand and G.I. ammo. Unfortunately, his score was rather low due to his shooting abilities and the rifle. All the best...
