VA,
Don't get me started about my uncle. My grandmother passed away about 9 months ago and he is named as the personal representative of the estate under the will. My mother is the backup. Anyway, the guy hasn't done a single thing after the funeral. I am waiting patiently to see how this thing shakes out, but once the anniversary date comes and goes I am going to file something for my mother to take over the administration of the estate. Utterly insane.
His wife has a lot of money. His father-in-law owns a company that is doing really well. I believe the father-in-law is gifting ownership of the company to his children and grandchildren for estate planning purposes. Well, once my cousins (i.e., his two daughters) found out that they were making thousands of dollars in dividends/earnings a year, they decided they didn't need to study too hard. On top of that, when the first of them turned 16, the mother bought her an Audi TT roadster and she proceeded to wreck it very soon thereafter. Of course, the car was her reward for getting caught with pot.
I guess it all starts at an early age. My uncle took/stole money from my grandfather to buy a Ford Pinto. Now, while I am a Ford man, I wouldn't have bought the Pinto. Anyway, my uncle proceeded to wrap the Pinto around a tree and totalled it. He is a complete mess. He went to the University of Maryland and got a doctorate in liberal arts, or something else rather artsy. However, he has been a Safeway cashier his entire life. He met his wife at the University and I believe she was studying for the same degree. However, she is currently a professor of art at a Washington, D.C. University.
The whole family is a bunch of liberals. I think it pains them to come over my parents' place. Then again, it has pained me sometimes to go over their place and marvel at the art hanging around the house and placed in the lawn.
