I would have said something about the 30-30.... Until I used one I recently acquired (everybody should have one right???) to shoot a deer this past fall. Wow. Points like an extension of my arm, and I was pretty impressed with the results. Knocked a runnning deer flat at about 100 yards. Won't win any accuracy contests, but for handling and quick shot opportunities, it's hard to beat.
