This morning I shot a Grey Squirrel with a head shot but as I don't have a .17 I used what I had with me
and as I was actually after Deer it was a 30-30 bolt action rifle. Load was a 130 Grn Hornady spitzer loaded hot. The sguirrel moved OK........ blown off his stump with half his head missing. The 30-30 is a little bit savage on squirrels. Not an easy shot as I had to lean out of the stand to get a shot at his head, sitting normally all I could see was his butt and tail. Didn't take any pictures though. Must get out with the Air rifle and thin a few out
