I can empathize with you. I'm about 5 years older than you and I started to notice changes about five or six years ago. The difference is that I can see just fine at a distance, it's close-up that I have a problem with. I know several others who said that they noticed a difference at about the same age. Reading glasses seem to help with almost everything except shooting. I just can't focus near AND far like I used to. I can see the target just fine, it's the sights, especially the rear one, that are blurry for me. I do better with no glasses than I do with reading glasses, but I do best with a scope. I guess I should get a professional examination and prescription glasses, but I keep putting it off. You know the story, It's too expensive, It takes too much time, The problem isn't really that bad, Etc...
You ain't alone.
Lots of us have deteriorating senses and we learn to live with it, others get a professional opinion. I guess I'm in the first group.
