Barrel Burner??
I've got my .25-06 in a Ruger M77MKII sporter. Best rifle and caliber that I've ever found for what I hunt down here in the Republic of Texas.
The more that I shoot this rifle the better it seems to shoot. The groups are very consistant. With an average of about 3/8" at 100 yrds. The best group so far is about 0.118" for 3 rnds and the baddest is about 3/4".
I've shot about 400 factory loads thru this rifle and about 700 + handloads of verying bullets and powders. I haven't shot it for a while because of working up new .45 Colt loading for my handgun and levergun but every time I hang it up for a while and then drag it back to the range the first round from a cold barrel hits 2 1/2" high and about 1/8" right every time no matter what the conditions at the range or the weather.
I think that spells of good rifle and load combination. I've pushed em from the 2,600 fps range to about 3,200 now and it just keeps on shooting.
Just my thoughts.
