I had a charcoal unit for a short time. It worked but to control temperature I had to babysit it more than I desired so I bought the electric version and that has worked pretty well too but again the temperature is a constant even if it's too hot. I think the propane would be the way to go, in fact I was thinking of getting a little burner and installing it in the hull of this new smoker and running it on propane. I can buy replacement burners at Wally World all day long so I should be able to configure something. I'll just need to install a temp gauge in the lid as the electric models don't have one like the charcoal units do.
