In my job, I have no choice but to drive. I put approx 40k miles per year on. And, with my F250 Diesel, it costs anywhere from $60 to $70 dollars, sometimes more, to fill er up, almost daily, it seems anyway. That stings some.

I gotta have a truck, pulling my camper when we want to go somewhere, bass boat and hunting. I tried buying a little cheap car that got 30 mpg, but it was just costing more. It seems it should have saved me, but by the time you recognize the savings, the car was going to be worn out. Im better off driving my truck and not gettin on it much, it will get 16-19 mpg if I drive it right......

As for the economy, it will effect it. People make x number of dollars. People are reliant on fuel to get to work to make those dollars. If it costs more to get there and back, that leaves less dollars for luxuries, vacations, more expensive food, eating out, new houses, ect..... Its not going to help anyone. Pretty simple. If Joe Blows Bar and Grill isnt getting as much business because people are spending money on fuel instead of eating and drinking in his place, then hes gonna lay off his employees as needed. Cant be good.

For my business, I have noticed that downturns in economy help in the short term, sad as it is, but not the long term. In the short term, some people out of work and desperate will steal or sell drugs to make ends meet. They get arrested and it boosts our business. But, as the economy gets worse, mom and dad and friends dont have the money to get them out anymore, so it goes down again. And the jails fill up.

See what happens.
