A Vega? Ahhhh...Chevy's answer to the Pinto! Remember the Cosworth Vega? It was a special edition with a few Cosworth parts bolted to the engine block.
Oh, I don't know how I forgot this Pinto story but my sister and brother-in-law had one of those Pintos that would blow up when rear-ended. They lived in a small little central coast town and kept it parked out in the street. They had the recall work performed after the big "to-do" and 2 weeks later in the wee hours off the night some drunk POS came barrelin' around the corner and took it way too wide and plowed into the back of their beloved Pinto at some 30-40 mph. The impact opened the gas tank like a cracked egg and there was gas everywhere but fortunately no ignition source. Totalled the Pinto...game over.
