Just to play devils advocate... the ORIGINAL pledge was WITHOUT the phrase "under God". That was added in 1954. I am VERY patriotic. Served in the Navy. Still cry at EVERY Star Spangled Banner that I hear. Always have.

I really don't care one way or the other if it's in there or not. I do get tired of being preached at ALL the time by bible thumpers. I am strong enough to not be threatened by it.

If ya'll elected me benevolent dictator for life I'd take it out. It wasn't there ORIGINALLY, and to me it's not a big deal. I'd leave the 10 commandments on the courthouse walls and lawn though. Heck... even I believe in 5 of them. 6-10 Lie, steal, kill, adultery, and covet. And I am luke warm about #5. Mothers and Fathers do not automatically deserve honor. There are some REAL dirtbags that have procreated.

My relationship with God isn't anyone elses business. It's between us. As I believe it SHOULD be with everyone.

We're in a war right now because there are people fanatically following a perversion of faith. They are just as sure they are right as ya'll are sure thet YOU'RE right.

Me... I'm not sure who's right. Personally, I think most mainstream religions got it wrong. I don;t believe in a loving God that's gonna condemn major populations of humanity because they were born in the wrong region and brainwashed to believe in the wrong perversion of faith.

I hope this ain't enough to get me banned. But my goodness... there needed to be an opposing voice in this thread. Ya'll were getting hateful.
