I haven't done this, but I think I'd go to the BATF website and search for Cat III weapons.
I THINK, but am not sure, that you have to apply for a permit. That entails a full background check to include written approval by local police. Assuming you pass that, they issue you a certificate to buy one (just one). You find a Cat III licensed dealer. You pay a $250 transfer tax in addition to all other costs and fees. Then you have to have certified, inspectable storage facilities approved by the BATF, to include security system.
You can't buy another one or sell the first one without paying another $250 transfer tax.
Frankly, if I had to go through all that hoopla, I'd want a gun a whole lot better quality than a stinky Mac 10.
