Personally, I'd look into a game loading cart. I picked one up from Cabelas this past year after about bustin' a nut moving a heavy doe down a high ridge through heavy timber last season (incidentally, the private property that I hunt is the fourth highest elevation in the state of Illinois)

With a deer loaded, you simply turn the handles back towards your liftgate and set the handle into the liftgate and then lift the platform section with the deer back into the truck bed.

Granted, you still have all of the weight to move but it is distributed compactly and positioned to slide back once the weight shifts to the truck from the ground. I suppose that if one fashioned some roller style wheels at the back of the handle and mid-way down the cart frame, the job of loading game would be made both easier and safer yet. The wheels would begin rolling as soon as weight is shifted on them.

Sounds like a good idea. Anyhow, the camecart will help my friend!
