I think the chances of getting a clean kill with a raccoon isn't high, with an air rifle.
You should get a .17 HMR. Thats if geting a totally clean kill, is your bottom line. The .17 HMR bullet
should fragment on a starling, I'm not sure. On everything else it will.
If your intent on useing a air rifle. My vote is .22.
