JackRabbit,
I've seen the problem you mentioned before but it wasn't with a Winchester Model 70 and it was a .300 WSM not a .270 WSM. The rifle that misfired was a Kimber 8400 and it was my fathers rifle I was with when he took it to the range for the first time and it misfired. What happen was when he pulled the trigger nothing happened and when he touched the bolt handle to round disscharged. We inspected the empty case and tried again same thing happened. I never thought it was a hang fire because we have never had that happen before with our handloads so we took the rifle back to the store. They sent rifle back to Kimder and had the rifle inspected and worked on. When the rifle was sent back to us Kimber said they replaced the firingpin spring and that was it. I personaly had different thoughts about what was causing the misfires but I wasn't there when they took the bolt apart either. We generaly do our own fixing but in this case the rifle was right out of the box and we didn't want to get any grief from Kimber when sent it back for taking anything apart on our own. I hope this helps !
