i cant answer those questions.
i cant say wether it cools better. but i do know how a an air cooled cylinder head cools. lots of fins cast into the head to quadruple its surface area. allowing the heat to dissapate faster. because its in contact with more air
i believe straight taper 920 barrel is stiffer than a fluted 920. to make the comparison equal you turn the unfluted barrel down untill it weighs the same as the fluted barrel. the unfluted would then be less stiff aas the fluted and weigh the same.
will you notice the difreince in weight between the barrels. i dunno cant answer than. never had full bull 920 barrel.
heres what i do know. fluteing prefrences are basicaly ones opion. i like fluted barrels and flute everything. i do belive i can run heavier taper and be the same weight as sporter barrel and maybe cool better. i know ive never even got my green mtn fluted barrel past luke warm. i just dont think the 22lr has enough heat to heat a 920 barrel.
out of two green barrels ive bought. 16.5" blued fluted 10/22, and a 20" stainless fluted 17hmr.
both shoot very very well.
id recomend the 16.5" barrel. this is tested and known to be the best lenght in a 22lr. this lenght will be acurate and be the fastest. 18" barrels will be the longest i ever go in a 22. but then again i dont see any reason for that exstra 1.5"s of matteral on the end of the barrel.
i cant beleive i just typed all that.
in the the end when you cant decide. just flip quarter and make the order.
